How a split allocation might work

Combining index-linked and equity investing for retirement growth potential.

When saving for retirement, principal preservation and market growth potential can be complementary. One way to visualize this is to let history be a guide. This hypothetical example shows how an investment with a rate limit and 0% floor with equity allocations, which have no limit and no floor, might have performed under different scenarios.

The table reflects annualized returns for {surrenderPeriod} year time periods based upon a rolling monthly basis (e.g., Jan-Jan, Feb-Feb, etc.), modeling a hypothetical split allocation of a $100,000 investment, with {indexPercentage}% allocated to an Indexed account and {fundPercentage}% to the variable subaccount shown, with performance from subaccount inception through {performanceThroughDate}. The Indexed allocation assumes annual Initial Term crediting assumptions of the New York Life IndexFlex Variable Annuity–FP Series (IndexFlex) Index-linked Account, linked to the {indexCreditingMethod} Price Return Index. If the Cap Rate option is selected, returns for the Indexed allocation match the full year rate of return for the Index in any year the Index performance is positive, up to the Cap Rate determined at the time of issue, and a 0% rate of return for any year that the Index performance is negative. If the Flat Rate option is selected, returns for the Indexed allocation assume the Flat Rate determined at the time of issue for any year the Index performance is positive or zero and a 0% rate of return for any year that the Index performance is negative. The Cap or Flat Rate shown reflects Core Rates when less than 50% of the initial premium is allocated to the variable subaccount, and Enhanced Rates when 50% or more of the initial premium is allocated to the variable subaccount. Transfers from the variable investment options and Fixed Account to the Index-linked Account and/or partial withdrawals, other than Pro-Rata Withdrawals, may disqualify a policy from receiving Enhanced Rates. Investment gains or losses and Pro-Rata Withdrawals have no impact on the Enhanced Rate. If, as a result of a transfer or withdrawal, the policy no longer qualifies for an Enhanced Rate, the Core Rate will be applied for the duration of the surrender charge period. Performance of the variable subaccounts assumes IndexFlex M&E Fees of {mAndEFee}% and applicable fund fees. Please note that the inception date of the IndexFlex Variable Annuity is 1/19/2021. The index-account results are modeled and do not represent how the IndexFlex index-linked accounts would have performed in the past. NYLIAC sets the Cap and Flat Rates. Index-linked Crediting Rates are determined at the time of issue. Results attributed to indexed accounts in this example are only approximate. Performance data quoted represents past performance. Past performance is no guarantee of future results.

Performance data quoted represents past performance. Past performance is no guarantee of future results. Due to current market volatility, current performance may be lower or higher than the figures shown. The investment return and the Accumulation Value of your policy will fluctuate so that a policy, when surrendered, may be worth more or less than the premium payments.

All performance reflects the percentage change for the period shown with the capital gains and dividends reinvested and includes an annualized Mortality and Expense Risk and Administrative Cost Charge of 1.30% for the 5 year surrender charge period.
